The International North West 200 has announced that it will take its support to Rob Mac Racing for the 2009 Bennetts British Superbike Championship, with Michael Rutter joining forces with Chris Walker for the new season.

The decision to take its support to the Yamaha team means there will be no major Ducati team in the series for the 2009 season, with Rutter having elected to remain with the North West outfit despite considering setting up his own team.

The British Superbike Championship has confirmed a new terrestrial television deal with ITV for 2009.

Twelve one-hour programmes will go out on Saturday afternoons over the course of the year to compliment Eurosport's live coverage, featuring race highlights, grid walks, post race interviews and behind the scenes features.

To be shown first on Freeview channel ITV4, mid-week repeats will occur on the terrestrial ITV1 station, with further showings on Men and Motors, as well as being available to view for free on ITV Player at itv.com.

Further emphasising ITV's commitment to British motorsport having secured the exclusive live rights to the British Touring Car Championship too, MotorSport Vision Chairman Jonathan Palmer was delighted with the deal.

"This is great news for the fans and importantly the BSB sponsors and teams and reflects British Superbikes position against other motorsport series. This new ITV deal ensures that BSB remains on a free to air network, accessible to the largest possible audience."

"It's great to have the highly popular British Superbike Championship back on ITV,” added ITV Sport editor Nick Moody. “The Series provides compelling sports drama, high quality racing with plenty of thrills and a cast of great personalities that the fans can can connect with. We are really looking forward to giving our viewers the best action and insight from each event."

The programmes will be presented by nine-time BSB race winner James Haydon.

Rob Mac Racing has announced that it and Michael Rutter have decided to part company following a difficult start to the ViSK.com British Superbike Championship season.

Rutter began the season riding the North West 200 Coca-Cola Yamaha alongside Chris Walker and Graeme Gowland, but failed to score in the first two rounds of the season at Brands Hatch and Oulton Park.

Although he competed with the team at the weekend's North West 200, Rutter, who finished sixth in the standings aboard a Ducati last season, will end his contract early having failed to get the best out of the Yamaha.

A replacement will now be sought for Rutter, although the NW200 Coca-Cola team will continue to be represented in the British Supersport category with Dan Linfoot Shocked
