20 MPH Zone

My local council is introducing 20 mph zones all over the place!
I can understand the point in a quiet residential street, where there might be kids playing etc. But they have introduced one on a non-residential road approaching the local supermarket. They have put cameras on it that calculate your speed over the whole of the zone.
I bet they are going to make a lot of money out of this.
Has anyone been caught in one of these new zones?

there starting this sort of thing where i live aswell, they have a 20 zone and speedbumps coming into my street which is really pointless as it is only 20 yards long and you cant build up that much speed and have enough breaking distance! fecking council spending all the money onm needless things as usual

I'm all for it. The council recently placed speed bumps up my street to calm the nutters but they still fly over the bloody things...

Personally, I see the need for traffic speed calming measures, but speed bumps are the most annoying and car damaging methods ever to be used. Where I live there are hundreds of the bloody things and I've had to get my shocks replaced because of them.

I live in milton keynes and the council put speed bumps every where, it is real problem for fire engins, ambulances etc, why not put speed camera's even if no film in as this seems to work very well and dosn't slow emergency services and wont wreck your suspension

i read somewhere, that there is a place in england that has speedbumps that have sensors beofre them that calculate your speed and if your doin the correct speed (or under) then the speedbump lowers and if your goin to fast it raises, seems crazy to think that they could do that
