ANYONE BEEN WATCHING IRAQI TV ON HOTBIRD?

I couldn't resist, but they have abandoned their usual schedule in favour of a wall-to-wall, 24 hour tribute to Saddam Hussein.
There's songs, small news items, and some footage of Saddam greeting his flock. The picture is very bad quality, seemingly lifted from an analogue signal, complete with bad signal strength white specks.
Hokey.

The HB signal has been up and down like a yo-yo since the yanks sent a few cruise missiles down there, I guess they must have uplink problems?

Jep, they seem to have problems indeed, a few minutes ago there was some sort of propaganda material aired, troups parade on a boullevard, and now it's just black screen. The other channels on that transponder (HB, 12654H 27500 3/4) are all ok.
I don't think it's the uplink which has problems but eighter the production of the program is failing or the transfer from their studio to the uplink, as all these channels must be uplinked from one place for that transponder, which IMHO is defenitely not in Iraq.

Interesting though how so many digital channels have analogue weak signal speckles.

M8s,
just checked it again, on HB 12654H, it's on again after it was black yesterday when I checked. At the moment they show interviews with some peoples in hospitals. And the quality is very bad, complete picture freeze/dropouts (black screen) every 30 sec or so, sound stays on. And now and then some severe digital drop of quality, meaning blocks, like the data rate falling below the min. level.
Makes me curious what type of connection they use to feed the uplink?
Other channels on that transponder are as always, kind of ok.

I think their dishes are a bit out of shape after a few tomahawks went in with 900 kilograms explosive, enough to ruin your day
Cheers,
Cor.

Just a shame I cant understand a word that they are saying !
Had to laugh the other day though...there was this couple standing there singing a tribute to a picture of Sadam........Couldnt help but imagine a group of Republican Guards standing just out of camera shot, pointing guns at them and shouting 'make it convincing or else'

When the Brits and American lads liberate Iraq, imagine a year down the line, Coronation Street replacing their usual daily diet of "Songs to Saddam".
