Can anyone tell me if a PowerVu receiver is any use ?

M8, as this is a receiver to get the us-army programming with some hardware id chip which is used to decode them. For Europe their on Hotbird 13E at 11775H. PowerVu seems to be the encryption system for which this device is the hardware decoder. The system is not smart-card based but with the ID-chip in the box. They are opened from "ground control" per receiver, probably by including the ID of the built-in chip. At least that's the short form of what you'll find if you're searching for it.
Try google and search for PowerVu Receiver, you'll find plenty of interessting pages!

Hiya m8
You sometimes see them on ebay but you have to get one that's been authorised or you'll have a useless box!
There's no card for PowerVu - it's all done inside the box on one simple chip.

@ belmando 1,
go to lyngsat and click on Hotbird (13°E), search for AFN and you'll find what you're looking for. It's Hotbird 4, tp 113.
