Title: Weather warning
Post by Steve on Nov 13th, 2003, 4:29pm

According to todays weather there is a storm on its way - with wind speeds expected to be around 70mph.

Western parts of the uk are at high risk - so turn your dishes to a safe possition so the wind dont do much harm to it.

Thanks for the cheery news Steve.

On "Ceefax" as at 1820 hrs:

A powerful Atlantic storm will reach western areas this evening. Much of Wales, Northern Ireland, NW England and SW Scotland will be effected by the strongest winds. These winds will then continue over parts of Northern Britain during Friday.

Severe gales, with gusts of 70 to 80mph, are likely to uproot some trees and cause minor structural damage.

"Further updates will appear here"  (That was on page 405 on BBC 1)

Not so drafty on the South coast I hope!!!!!

PS. I wonder what is the best bearing to leave ones dish on???

Usually it's best to leave your dish pointed South (i.e. Thor) as the main winds tend to blow  West-East.

Hopefully here in Luton we won't have too much trouble...

Thanks Steve m8 Just what i didn't want to know.
I have just put up a 1.2 mtr dish above the roof so it is going to catch the wind more than i would like.
I also have my car parked under it so i hope it stays put.
I think i might fix some sort of safety chain to the dish secured to the wall as a extra precaution.
Thanks for the warning.

Cheers, Govon.

Just an update the wind is getting rather blustery here and the front dish is waggling like blazes so virtually no signal at all (Hipsat), luckly the back dish (hotbird) is getting a good signal.

Now then  ::)

I had no trouble whatsoever.
The pole is still where I cemented it less a dish.
So if anyone sees a dish and maybe accompanied by a spoon shaped LNB, you know where it started first. (in a nursery rhyme). or myback garden. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Does this make me satellite installer of the year.

Hi m8's,

As some of you guys still can post, I gather you're still there. What are the losses so far? Rob's dish. Anything more?

Nothing of that here in the land of polobears, but the cold is creeping closer. :P

Hi m8's,

The  ;D ;D ;D were supposed to come right after invalid's post. To booglesk I must say: I don't take anything, as my late mother strongly adviced me not to take anything harmfull. And urine doesn't sounds like a healthy thing to take.
